TREES FOR TROOPS 2007
**NCCTA has committed to 1,000 Trees**


Trees for Troops is a nationwide opportunity to promote real trees while supporting military families. Thank you for agreeing to donate trees to provide to military families around the world!

Background

  • The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation (CSF) – in cooperation with FedEx and Christmas tree growers &retailers – will again implement Trees for Troops program designed to provide 10,000 Real Christmas trees to military families at 25 bases in at least 15 countries.
  • Trees for domestic bases will be collected starting December 3 and will be delivered to Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine and Navy bases December 4 through December 14.
  • 300 trees for international bases will be picked up in Columbus (Ohio) on November 13 and 100 trees (tentatively) will be picked up in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 3 or 4.

What (Trees for Troops Weekend)
To enhance the charitable program while giving you add-on sales opportunities, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx are holding “Trees for Troops Weekend” (Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 2). FedEx and the National Christmas Tree Association (NCTA) will be increasing public relations and publicity for this weekend. A Trees for Troops Weekend gives every grower and retailer the opportunity to support our military families and, to benefit from the halo this program creates for the Real Christmas Tree industry.

Tentative Schedule
  • November 13 Ohio’s Operation Evergreen Trees picked up in Columbus for delivery to overseas bases
  • December 1-2 Trees for Troops weekend throughout the United States
  • December 3-13 Collection of Trees at various locations around the U.S.
  • December 4-14 Delivery of Trees to U.S. bases
 

Trees for Troops Materials Available
You may purchase additional items (banner, apron, collection box) at cost. Orders must be placed no later than September 30, 2007. Check www.realchristmastrees.org for information.

First-time Trees for Troops pick-up locations (established by the participating state associations) are scheduled to receive a free banner from FedEx (who will determine timing and shipping dates).

We will also have poster and banner materials available for download on the NCTA web site www.realchristmastrees.org should you choose to print them yourself.
